The President accuses critics of opposing the Sh42.5 billion investment because they can no longer profit from buying state-owned pipeline shares cheaply and selling them at higher prices.
President William Ruto has launched a fresh attack on critics of Aliko Dangote’s Sh42.5 billion investment in the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), accusing them of opposing the deal because it has denied them opportunities to buy shares cheaply and resell them at higher prices.
Ruto said his administration would ensure Kenyans received the best possible value from the sale of shares in the state-owned company, warning that the government would not allow brokers and other intermediaries to profit at the public’s expense.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at AIC Kasina in Mwingi, the President accused critics of contradicting their earlier position on the share sale, saying some had initially argued that the price of Sh9 per share was too high but were now unhappy after Dangote invested his own money.
