Wamae on Sunday declared her bid to vie for the presidency, launching her new party, Imarisha Uchumi Party (IUP), which she will use as the political vehicle to bid for the country's top seat.

"I Justina Wamae officially declare my bid for the presidency under the IUP. I was a member of TNA in 2017 and a running mate in 2022, but in both instances I realise I was just a member, without any say," Justina declared.

Under the banner 'Inatuhusu', IUP seeks to field candidates in all elective positions, with nominations set to take place before the election.

Justina said the process of registering IUP was not as tedious as that experienced by other parties like the Linda Mwananchi movement, but called on the process to be streamlined to have as many political parties as possible.

On whether she will join alliances with other like-minded political parties, Wamae said she is open to the idea, only if the manifestos align.

One of the things she vowed to abolish if elected is the Affordable Housing Levy introduced by President William Ruto.

"We will sell those affordable houses on mortgage to Kenyans who wish to continue paying, and refund monies to those who have already contributed and want to stop," Wamae said.
