Gachagua hosts Kalonzo in Nyeri for coalition talks
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua will on Monday host Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri for coalition talks ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by opposition leaders to consolidate their political formations and explore a possible united front to challenge President William Ruto in the next election.
Gachagua and Kalonzo are among the key opposition figures seeking to coordinate their political strategies as discussions over a joint presidential candidate and power-sharing arrangements continue.
The talks are expected to focus on cooperation between their parties and the broader question of how opposition leaders can build a common platform ahead of the polls.
The meeting at Wamunyoro also signals continued engagement between the two leaders as political realignments gather pace ahead of the 2027 election.
