With months to the 2027 General Election, pressure is mounting on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and instead work with President William Ruto.

Kalonzo, who served as Kenya’s Vice President under President Mwai Kibaki in the Grand Coalition Government, has announced his intentions to vie for the country’s top job. 

However, Political Strategist Fredrick Okango is of the opinion that Kalonzo has more to gain politically by aligning with the government. 

He further explains the shifting political alliances across Kenya, the growing rivalry between President Ruto and Gachagua, and what these developments could mean for the future of the opposition.
