He grew up in a family of three boys and is the second-born.

Omar attended school in Mombasa, where he developed his interest in football alongside his studies.
He has said that Islamic Religious Education (IRE) was his favorite subject, while physics was among the subjects he did not enjoy.
He completed secondary school but did not go on to college or university.
Aboud’s decision to leave formal education behind was influenced by his growing football career.
After completing secondary school, Omar joined Bandari FC, where he began earning money from football.
He later explained that he chose to concentrate fully on the sport rather than pursue higher education.
Aboud Omar’s Career
Aboud Omar began his football career in 2010 with Admiral FC in Mombasa.

He remained with Bandari until the first half of the 2013 season and made five league appearances.
In June 2013, Tusker opened talks with Admiral over his transfer after establishing that Omar was still contracted to the Mombasa club. The deal was completed later that month, with Omar signing a three-year contract with Tusker after his six-month loan spell at Bandari.
During his first spell at the club between 2013 and 2015, he played as a left-back and won four domestic trophies.
These included the 2013 and 2014 Top 8 Cup titles and the 2013 and 2014 Kenyan Super Cup.
His performances in Kenya eventually earned him a move to Europe in 2015.
In 2015, Omar moved abroad for the first time, joining Greek second-tier club Panegialios. He made 14 league appearances before moving to Slavia Sofia in Bulgaria in 2016.
He spent two seasons with Slavia and became the first Kenyan to play in Bulgaria’s top flight. In the 2017/18 season, he was part of the Slavia side that won the Bulgarian Cup.
Omar continued his European career in Belgium, joining Cercle Brugge in 2018.

He was also named the club’s MVP, best defender, and Best-Goal winner at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
