Elvis Olukusi crossed shortly before half-time, with Brian Wahinya converting to restore KCB’s lead at 21-19. Olukusi scored again after the break, and Wahinya added a drop goal to extend the advantage to 29-19. Oilers scored late, but KCB held on to secure the win.

“A strong start to the Floodlit campaign as Andrew Amonde’s charges dismiss the Oilers 31–24 in this evening’s quarterfinal clash. Statement made, and the Lions are ready for the battles ahead,” KCB Rugby said on Facebook.
