Kenya Police FC have confirmed the departure of head coach Nicholas Muyoti and his assistant, John Baraza, after the duo requested permission to pursue CAF A coaching qualifications.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the club said the two coaches had joined the team with an understanding that they would be allowed to advance their coaching credentials whenever an opportunity arose.

Both Muyoti and Baraza hold CAF B licenses and have now requested to enroll for the higher-level CAF A coaching course.

The club confirmed it had approved their requests, noting the growing importance of advanced qualifications in top-flight football.

“The club consented to their requests, acknowledging their diligence, commitment, professionalism and work ethic,” the statement read.

The announcement comes just two matches into the 2026/27 Kenyan Premier League season. Police opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Migori Youth before losing to AFC Leopards.

The club also pointed to changing coaching requirements in Kenyan football, saying it was becoming increasingly likely that only CAF A-licensed coaches would be permitted to lead Kenya Premier League teams.

“Coaching dynamics are shifting, and soon we may see a requirement for only CAF A-licensed coaches to lead Kenya Premier League teams,” the statement added.

Kenya Police, who won the league title in the 2024/25 season before finishing third last term, said they would communicate their plans for the technical bench in due course.
