    Siblings

Berg has one sibling, a brother named Marius Berg.

Marius maintains a low public profile and has not pursued a prominent professional football career like his brother.

Norwegian media coverage during the 2026 FIFA World Cup noted that Marius and his family traveled as part of the larger group supporting Patrick and the national team.

    Career

Berg began his youth career with Bodø/Glimt after spending some of his early childhood years in Trondheim, where his father played for Rosenborg, including a spell with Strindheim.

He made his senior debut for Bodø/Glimt in 2014 at the age of 16 in an Eliteserien match against Odd.

He gradually established himself in the first team, becoming a regular by the late 2010s under coach Kjetil Knutsen.

In 2020 he served as co-captain alongside Ulrik Saltnes as Bodø/Glimt won their first-ever Eliteserien title.

He continued as a key figure in subsequent successful seasons.

In January 2022 he transferred to French Ligue 1 side RC Lens on a contract until 2026, making a handful of appearances before returning to Bodø/Glimt in August 2022.

Since his return he has remained a central midfielder and frequent captain, contributing to further domestic success and notable European campaigns, including runs in the UEFA Conference League, Europa League (reaching the semi-finals in 2024–25), and Champions League.

Internationally, Berg debuted for Norway on 24 March 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar.

By late 2026 he had accumulated over 50 senior caps.

He was selected for Norway’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, where he featured prominently as a defensive midfielder, starting several matches and providing key assists, including in victories that helped the team advance.

    Accolades

With Bodø/Glimt, Berg has won the Eliteserien four times (2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024), the Norwegian First Division (OBOS-ligaen) in 2017, and the Norwegian Cup (NM Cupen) in 2025–26.

Individually, he was named Eliteserien Player of the Year (Kniksenprisen) in 2021 and again in 2025.

He was also selected for the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season in 2024–25 and has received Player of the Month honors in the Eliteserien.

The Berg family as a whole received the Kniksen honorary award in 2021.

On the international stage, his participation in the 2026 World Cup marked a historic milestone for the family lineage, as neither his father nor grandfather had the opportunity to play in a World Cup finals tournament.
