Ulinzi Starlets edge Police Bullets to maintain perfect Women's Premier League start
The result takes Ulinzi to 18 points from six matches, extending their winning run to six games and opening a three-point gap over second-placed Police Bullets.
Ulinzi Starlets maintained their flawless start to the FKF Women's Premier League season after edging Kenya Police Bullets 1-0 in Saturday's Disciplined Forces derby to consolidate their position at the summit.
Sharon Nambengele's early strike proved decisive at the end of a fiercely contested encounter between the two sides, who had both won their opening four matches heading into the weekend fixture.
The victory also offered the Soldiers a measure of revenge following their men's team's 1-0 defeat to Kenya Police in Thursday's FKF Premier League meeting at Police Sacco Stadium.
Ulinzi wasted little time in asserting themselves, taking control of the midfield and putting the Police defence under pressure in the opening exchanges.
Their positive start paid off in the 11th minute when Beverline Adika picked out Nambengele with a well-weighted pass. The forward showed composure to lift the ball over the advancing Annedy Kundu and find the back of the net.
Police responded by pushing forward in search of an equaliser, with Lorna Nyabuto coming close in the 18th minute through a free kick that sailed over the crossbar.

At the other end, Nambengele turned provider in the 24th minute, setting up Siliya Rasoha, whose attempt narrowly missed the target.
As Police increased their attacking pressure, Ulinzi gradually dropped deeper, adopting a compact defensive shape to protect their advantage. The Law Enforcers struggled to find a way through, with Tereza Engesha unable to make the most of the opportunities that came her way before the interval.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Ulinzi remaining organised at the back as Police sought to restore parity.
Nyabuto found little room to operate in midfield as the Soldiers crowded out their opponents and limited their attacking options.
Lorine Illavonga was booked in the 60th minute for stopping a promising Police move, while goalkeeper Velma Abwire produced a crucial intervention three minutes later, diving to deny Engesha and preserve Ulinzi's slender advantage.
With Police gaining greater control of the midfield, Ulinzi coach Collins Ochieng responded by introducing Mercy Airo and Joy Kinglady in the 70th minute.
The changes helped the home side regain defensive stability as they held on through the closing stages to secure all three points.
The result takes Ulinzi to 18 points from six matches, extending their winning run to six games and opening a three-point gap over second-placed Police Bullets.
Shabana Starlets claim first home victory
Shabana Starlets finally celebrated their first home victory of the campaign after defeating Gideon Starlets 2-0 in the Nyanza Derby at Awendo Green Stadium.
The newly promoted side had struggled to turn their Awendo home ground into a winning venue, with their only previous victory coming against Elim White Ladies in a fixture staged at Afraha Stadium.
Neither side managed to find the breakthrough in the first half, but Zipporah Wanjala changed the complexion of the contest in the 65th minute, putting Shabana ahead and giving the home supporters something to celebrate.
Gideon pushed forward in search of an equaliser towards the end, but their attacking approach left gaps at the back. Shabana capitalised, with an own goal compounding the visitors' misery and sealing a 2-0 victory.
