Inside Kenya’s Mega Highway That Will Change East Africa | Rironi–Mau Summit
Description (show more)
Kenya is building one of the most ambitious road projects in its history — a massive highway connecting Rironi to the Mau Summit. But this is more than just a road. In this documentary, I take you inside the construction of the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway to see what is happening on the ground — from massive earthworks and newly carved sections of the highway to the businesses, communities and landscapes that are being transformed along the route. I travel through some of the most dramatic sections of the project to understand what this highway could mean for Kenya’s economy, property market, tourism, transport and trade across East Africa. For years, the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit corridor has been one of Kenya’s most important transport routes. The new dual carriageway is expected to fundamentally change how people and goods move between Nairobi and Western Kenya — and potentially strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional transport and trade hub. But development also comes with a cost. Along the route, businesses are adapting, landscapes are changing, and land that once seemed remote is suddenly becoming strategically important. So, what will this highway actually look like when it is complete? And could the Rironi–Mau Summit road really become one of the projects that changes the face of Kenya and East Africa? Come with me inside the construction site. WATCH. EXPLORE. UNDERSTAND KENYA.
