Aviation workers push back against KAWU strike threats

Description (show more)

A rift is emerging within Kenya’s aviation workforce, with a section of employees pushing back against frequent strike notices issued by the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, KAWU. Speaking during a press briefing, the workers, largely drawn from the Kenya Airports Authority, accused the union leadership of fuelling persistent industrial tension and called for dialogue as the preferred way of resolving disputes. They say repeated threats of industrial action risk disrupting airport operations and are urging KAWU, led by Secretary General Moss Ndiema, to focus on workers’ welfare, job security and working conditions. The employees have also challenged KAA management to address outstanding staff grievances, including the provision of uniforms.
