KNUT, KUPPET differ over junior secondary school management

The Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT, and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET, have submitted opposing views on the administration of Junior Secondary Schools during a public hearing on the Basic Education Bill, 2026, in Kisumu. The Education Committee, which is on the third day of public hearings across 31 counties, also heard submissions on corporal punishment, strikes during the examination period and the proposed penalisation of parents who fail to take their children to school.
