Description (show more)
Leaders have mourned Maureen Nyadida, wife of Professor Lukoye Atwoli, remembering her as a peacemaker and community builder who dedicated her life to bringing people together. At a funeral service held at All Saints Cathedral, family, friends and leaders eulogised Nyadida for her commitment to uniting communities until her final days, even as she battled cancer. They also defended her decision to be cremated, with COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli urging Kenyans to embrace alternative burial methods despite cultural and religious reservations. Nyadida, who is survived by her husband and four sons, was later cremated at the Kariokor Crematorium in Nairobi.
