Government identifies 109 criminal gangs ahead of 2027 polls
Description (show more)
The government has identified 109 organised criminal gangs and groups operating across the country as security agencies intensify efforts to curb violence, intimidation and other criminal activities ahead of the 2027 General Election. Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said the number has risen from the 89 gangs that were declared illegal in 2016. The government says security agencies are stepping up efforts to disrupt the activities of the groups and prevent them from being used to fuel violence or intimidate Kenyans ahead of the elections.
