Performing artists society distributes Sh43.6 million in royalties

The Performing Artists and Visual Rights Society of Kenya, has distributed 43.6 million shillings in royalties to 5,911 creatives this year, an increase from the 24 million shillings distributed last year. Speaking during its Second Annual General Meeting, the societies Chairman Edward Waigwa said lengthy court processes have denied creatives timely access to their rightful earnings, raising concerns over transparency and accountability in the sector. KECOBO Chairman Joshua Kutuny, said collective management organisations that failed to meet regulatory requirements have been dismantled.
