Kuppet calls for suspension of education bills hearings
Description (show more)
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, Kuppet, has called for the suspension of ongoing public hearings on six education bills, including the Basic Education Bill, 2026, and the Tertiary Education, Placement and Funding Bill. The union says the process is rushed and lacks sufficient inclusivity. Meanwhile, Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa has raised concerns over the proposed tertiary education funding framework, saying the bill does not clearly state the source of funding for the proposed Tertiary Education Funding Authority or the terms under which students will borrow.
