Kenyans can now invest in some of the world’s largest technology and innovation companies through a new fund Britam launched on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Launched during an event at Britam Towers in Nairobi, the Britam Enhanced Global Equity Special Fund is a US dollar-denominated investment fund that gives investors access to leading global technology and innovation companies.

In his remarks, Britam Group Managing Director Tom Gitogo challenged Kenyans to take advantage of global investment opportunities through the newly launched Enhanced Global Equity Special Fund, which gives investors exposure to international markets, including technology companies in the United States.

“AI and other global growth themes offer possibilities, and there is no reason, sitting here in Kenya, you shouldn’t take part in this future that we see,” Gitogo said.

The fund focuses on sectors driving some of the world’s fastest-growing industries, offering exposure to international markets and growth opportunities.

Its target areas include artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, cloud infrastructure and electric vehicles, as well as major global blue-chip technology companies.

Britam launched the fund alongside the Multi-Asset Special Fund, a Kenya shilling-denominated product designed to spread investments across different asset classes in both local and international markets.

How Kenyans Can Invest in Global Technology

The Enhanced Global Equity Special Fund is designed for investors seeking long-term capital growth in US dollars through exposure to global equities.

Unlike investing directly in individual foreign shares, investors put their money into the professionally managed fund, which invests in global technology and innovation companies.

The fund requires a minimum initial investment of $2,000, with additional investments starting at $1,000.

Its investment strategy is focused on global equities, meaning its performance is linked to movements in the international stock markets and the companies in which the fund invests.

The fund has a higher risk profile because it is concentrated in equities, particularly the technology and innovation sectors, which can experience significant price movements.

Fund Targets Long-Term Growth

Britam’s global equity product targets investors seeking long-term capital appreciation in US dollars.

The fund’s strategy gives Kenyan investors an avenue to participate in the growth of global technology and innovation markets while holding their investment in a hard currency.

Gitogo said Britam would focus on research and risk management as it seeks to deliver long-term value to investors.

“Our focus will be on thoughtful research and disciplined risk management and long-term value. I invite you to come to Britam and explore those special funds that we are launching today with our investment team,” he said.

The product is intended for a long-term investment horizon, with investors exposed to both the potential gains and losses associated with global equity markets.

About the Multi-Asset Fund

On the other hand, the Multi-Asset Special Fund gives investors a more diversified investment option.

The fund is denominated in Kenya shillings and can invest across a range of local and international assets.

These include Kenyan government securities, Treasury bills, bank deposits, global fixed-income securities, local and global equities, exchange-traded funds and commodities such as gold and oil.

The minimum initial investment is KSh500,000, while subsequent top-ups start at KSh250,000.

Unlike the global equity fund, which concentrates on equities, the multi-asset product spreads investments across several asset classes.

Key Difference Between the Two Funds

The two products have been structured for investors with different investment objectives and risk appetites.

The Enhanced Global Equity Special Fund is US dollar-denominated and focuses specifically on global technology and innovation equities. It carries a higher risk profile because of its equity concentration and the volatility associated with technology stocks.

Multi-Asset Special Fund is Kenya shilling-denominated and invests across multiple asset classes, including fixed income, equities, ETFs, and commodities.

The multi-asset strategy also gives the fund flexibility to use hedging strategies, including currency hedging, and leverage within its investment strategy.
