Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has officially commissioned its 94th branch in Isiolo town, kicking off a seven-branch nationwide rollout designed to expand the lender’s network across Kenya to the 100-branch mark before the close of 2026.

Situated on the ground floor along Banking Street in the Isiolo Central Business District, the flagship outlet capitalizes on Isiolo’s positioning at the intersection of the A2 highway and the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor.

The branch will deliver retail, SME, and digital banking solutions tailored to the county’s core value chains:

  • Pastoralist and Agricultural Production: Tailored financing for livestock trade, produce marketing, and value-addition sectors such as camel milk processing.
  • Logistics and Cross-Border Transit: Trade finance and cash management for freight, transport operators, and distribution depots connecting northern Kenya to neighboring countries.
  • Tourism and Services: Local hospitality operators, eco-tourism circuits, and emerging retail services.

During the official commissioning, DTB Kenya Managing Director Murali Natarajan framed the opening as an anchor for regional economic equity: “Financial inclusion means ensuring that opportunity is not determined by where someone lives. By establishing a presence in Isiolo, we are bringing our banking services closer to individuals and businesses that are contributing to the region’s economy and creating opportunities for its future. We recognise the potential of northern Kenya and want to be a partner to the people, enterprises, and communities building the future.”

Isiolo County Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo noted that expanding the local financial infrastructure directly supports the county’s long-term commercial goals: “For a county like Isiolo, with its strategic location and growing economic opportunities, having more banking services within reach can make a meaningful difference to our traders, pastoralist communities, entrepreneurs, and young people. We welcome DTB’s investment in Isiolo and look forward to partnerships that will help our people access financial solutions, grow their businesses, and participate fully in the country’s economic development.”

Following the Isiolo opening, DTB will roll out six additional branches across Nairobi, Kiambu, and Homa Bay counties.
