NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 3 – The share of Kenyan households using electricity has increased to 70 per cent from 58 per cent in 2022, according to the latest Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) survey.
The 2025/2026 Kenya Mini Demographic and Health Survey also shows that the proportion of the population using electricity as their main source of lighting rose to 66 per cent from 51 per cent in 2022.
The survey further found that 30 per cent of households now use clean cooking fuels, up from 24 per cent in 2022.
KNBS Acting Director General Benjamin Avusevwa said the findings provide updated data to support planning by national and county governments.
The survey covers all 47 counties and provides information on household conditions, health and population indicators. The data is expected to guide development programmes and decisions on resource allocation.
