KUSCCO Liquidation and Appointment of Liquidator
The Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives Limited (KUSCCO) was placed under liquidation after the government cancelled its registration over liquidity challenges, according to reports citing Gazette Notice No. 13997 dated August 31, 2026.
Liquidation involves taking control of an institution’s assets, recovering debts owed to it and distributing available proceeds to creditors through a structured process.
Waithaka Ngaruiya of Waithaka and Associates was appointed liquidator on September 23, 2026, replacing three government officials initially assigned the responsibility. The Gazette published his appointment under Notice No. 15270.
In a notice dated October 8, 2026, the liquidator asked KUSCCO creditors to submit full details of their claims through the cooperative’s registered head office or the designated email addresses.
The notice warned that creditors who fail to submit proof of debt could be excluded from distributions made before the liquidator establishes their claims.
KUSCCO also directed borrowers to continue servicing their outstanding loans during the liquidation process.
“All debtors of KENYA UNION OF SAVINGS AND CREDIT CO-OPERATIVES UNION LIMITED (KUSCCO) are advised to continue paying their respective monthly instalments, as they fall due through the bank details as provided in the agreements between the debtors and KUSCCO,” the notice stated.
Borrowers seeking clarification were directed to contact the office on 0111027200 or email info@kuscco.com and liquidator@kuscco.com.
The liquidator’s appointment authorised him to take custody of KUSCCO’s property and relevant records to facilitate the winding-up process. The appointment notice stated that he was authorised to “take into his custody all the property of the said Union including such books and documents as are deemed necessary for completion of the liquidation.”
