The incoming chief executive will be expected to sustain the company's financial performance while pursuing investment opportunities, strengthening operational efficiency and maintaining confidence among stakeholders.
KenGen has tapped its commercial leadership team for its next chief executive, naming Ronoh Kibet Charles to take charge of the country's largest electricity generator as the energy sector faces growing pressure to meet rising demand and expand clean power production.
Kibet, who currently serves as the company's General Manager for Commercial Services, is expected to take over from outgoing chief executive Peter Waweru Njenga on February 1, 2027, following a competitive recruitment process.
Kibet's background in commercial services is likely to be significant as KenGen seeks to broaden its income sources beyond electricity generation.
