Uasin Gishu County is ready to partner with both local and international investors in the fields of agriculture, manufacturing and technology as part of its strategy to fully tap the great economic potential of the region.
The County Director of Investment, Erustus Kerich, revealed that the County leadership, under Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, has in place a deliberate practical programme aimed at wooing foreign companies to explore available business opportunities in the County.
Kerich said the county is positioning itself as an attractive investment destination of choice in the country and the East African region, where both local and international investors would take root and get assured of maximum returns for their businesses.
“We want the visiting companies to see the opportunities on the ground and for our local businesses to engage directly with potential investors and technology providers,” Director Kerich stated.
Kerich made the remarks Monday evening during a reception for a high-level Polish delegation visiting the county.
The group, led by Anna Bańkowska, Deputy Marshal of the West Pomeranian Region in Poland, arrived in Kenya with representatives of twelve Polish companies and officials from the Marshal’s Office.
They were received at the county by the county director of investment, Erustus Kerich; the county attorney, Sylvester Metto; the chief officer, Mary Kerich; and other officials.
Bańkowska noted that Poland, and in particular West Pomerania Voivodeship and Uasin Gishu County, share strong interest in the fields of agriculture, processing and modern industrial technology.
“We have come to listen, learn and identify tangible opportunities for our companies to work with local partners here in Kenya and Uasin Gishu County,” she said.
Bańkowska informed that Polish firms, both state-owned and private enterprises, specialise in agricultural machinery, fertilisers, cosmetics, food-processing equipment, railway engineering, cybersecurity and industrial technology.
The County Attorney, Metto, described the visit as crucial, saying the County is delighted to host the Polish investors and ready to explore together areas of potential partnership.
“This visit is an important step in opening doors for practical cooperation that can create jobs and bring new technology to Uasin Gishu,” Metto said.
Chief Officer Kerich said the County considers the engagement as part of a wider strategy to woo more investors into the County and propel trade, wealth and employment creation.
“We are positioning Uasin Gishu as an attractive destination for both domestic and international investors,” adding, “Partnerships like this help us accelerate trade, technology transfer and industrial development in a sustainable manner,” said Kerich.
She noted that the visit would open new avenues for collaboration that are of great economic strides for both Kenya and Poland.
Kerich described the engagement as further evidence of the county’s commitment to expanding international investment partnerships and driving long-term economic growth.
The Chief Officer added that the County seeks closer business ties and fresh investment opportunities across agriculture, industry and technology sectors.
Uasin Gishu County has arranged site visits, tailored to each visiting company, according to their expertise, to allow focused engagement and possible partnerships.
