Rachuonyo South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Silvester Mwangulu has directed chiefs and village elders to ensure noise pollution was limited during funeral functions to enable learners sit their national examination in a peaceful environment.

He told the administrators not to allow loud music during funeral occasions to enable learners prepare for exams “We don’t want noisy neighbourhoods,” he stressed.

He said there is no problem conducting burial ceremonies but playing loud music must be avoided warning loud music will disturb children preparing for exams or even attract and distract their focus from exam preparation

The DCC warned action will be taken against anybody who will violate the order directing chiefs and village elders to be vigilant to protect the interest of the children.

“We want minimum noise until the exams are over,” the DCC said.

The deputy county commissioner was addressing residents during this year’s mashujaa day celebration held at Kosele stadium where he also urged parents to take care of their children saying they should not be left alone to cross rivers or wade into water as this will endanger their lives.

The DCC said the meteorological department has already issued alert El Niño rain is coming and “as parents we must ensure children are safe” he said.

The commissioner directed chiefs and village elders to ensure the message reaches residents within their area to protect lives.

“Ensure you also map out any vulnerable groups within the community to avoid extreme effect of the impending El Nino.”
