Migori County Commissioner (CC) Kisilu Mutua has assured residents that the government was working proactively to guarantee the completion of all stalled and ongoing development projects across the region.
Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Kakrao Comprehensive School in Suna East Constituency, Mutua addressed pressing public concerns regarding completion of various governmental projects including the Sh124 million Migori Bridge, the 80 percent complete Migori stadium, the expansion of the Lichota Airstrip from Class C to B International airport standards and various roads within the county, saying they will be closely monitored until completion.
The CC also confirmed that work on the vital Masara-Muhuru Road is set to progress smoothly now that legal hurdles have been cleared.
“The government is actively working to ensure the construction of Masara-Muhuru Road remains on course, especially now that the legal issue with the contractor who had sued the government has been fully resolved”, said Mutua.
Addressing emergency infrastructure efforts, Mutua called for patience, particularly on the Migori Bridge, which was partly washed away by destructive floods six months ago.
While noting the closure of schools for the December holidays, the CC cautioned parents to take care of their children to avoid falling in bad companies that that can lead to drug usage, teenage pregnancies and school dropout.
In his closing remarks, the County Commissioner turned his attention to the education sector, calling upon educators to play an active role in holistic student development.
“I urge all our teachers to continue nurturing raw talents among learners to ensure our youth build sustainable futures, emphasizing that empowering young people remains a key pillar of long-term county development,” Mutua noted.
He thanked the local administration for fostering a good working relationship between the national and county governments as a bridge for better coordination and development.
