The County Government of Uasin Gishu is intensifying efforts to elevate Uasin Gishu County Hospital into a premier public health facility, with a strong push for expanded services, stronger institutional capacity and higher standards of patient care.
On Friday, County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Janet Kurgat challenged the hospital’s management team to craft an ambitious roadmap that will transform service delivery and establish the facility as a national benchmark for public healthcare.
Speaking during the validation of the hospital’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, Kurgat urged the team to produce a forward-looking document capable of capturing the hospital’s full growth potential.
“We must think beyond routine priorities,” Kurgat said. “This strategic plan should redefine how we deliver care, expand specialised services and improve efficiency so that Uasin Gishu County Hospital stands out as a model for quality public healthcare in Kenya.”
She emphasised the need for practical interventions that respond to emerging healthcare needs while delivering better outcomes for patients.
A central focus of the discussion was the integration of the upcoming Uasin Gishu County Diagnostic Centre into the hospital’s long-term development agenda.
“Aligning our investment in modern diagnostic infrastructure with the hospital’s future needs will strengthen our capacity for timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment,” Kurgat noted.
“This must be a key pillar of the strategic plan,” added the CEC.
The validation exercise brought stakeholders together to review proposed priorities, identify gaps and ensure the final document reflects both operational realities and long-term ambitions.
Once completed, the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan is expected to guide the County Government’s efforts to expand services, build institutional capacity and deliver more responsive, patient-centred care.
“Our ultimate goal is a stronger county hospital that offers a wider range of quality services, meets the evolving needs of our residents and sets a new benchmark for public healthcare beyond Uasin Gishu,” Kurgat said.
