Kenya Power issues 90-day ultimatum to 68 people to vacate its land in Mombasa

Kenya Power directed the named occupants to stop all activities on the property, remove any buildings, other improvements, crops and livestock, and vacate the land within three months or face eviction at their own cost.

Kenya Power has issued a 90-day eviction notice to 68 people it accuses of unlawfully occupying its land in Jomvu, Mombasa County.

In a notice dated October 27, 2026, the power utility identified the property as Land Reference Number JOMVU MN/V/222/2, stating that the individuals were occupying it without lawful authority, a right or a licence under any law.

Kenya Power directed the named occupants to stop all activities on the property, remove any buildings, other improvements, crops and livestock, and vacate the land within three months or face eviction at their own cost.

“Take notice that you are in unlawful occupation of our land LR NO. JOMVU MN/V/222/2 situated in Jomvu, Mombasa County; without express/ lawful authority or without any right or license under any law. By this notice, you are required to immediately stop any further activities on the land, remove any buildings and other improvements which you may have erected thereon, remove any growing crops you may have planted, and livestock kept thereon, and vacate the land within three (3) months (ninety (90) days) from the date of this notice,” reads the notice.

It warned that those who fail to vacate within the 90-day period will be evicted without further notice.

“Take notice that at the expiry of three (3) months (ninety (90) days), we shall evict you without any further reference to you at your costs and peril,” reads the notice.
