KRA gives importers 30 days to collect abandoned goods or risk losing them in December auction
The department said any consignments that remain uncollected after the deadline will be handled in accordance with the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, as amended.
Companies and individuals with goods lying uncollected at Nairobi’s inland container depots have 30 days to clear their consignments or risk losing them at a public auction scheduled for December.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), through its Customs and Border Control Department, has issued a notice warning importers that goods left uncollected beyond the deadline will be declared abandoned and sold through an online auction in December 2026.
In a Gazette Notice dated October 30, 2026, the department directed owners of the affected consignments to complete the necessary customs entries and remove their goods from the custody of the customs warehouse keeper within 30 days.
It warned that any goods not cleared within the stipulated period would be handled in accordance with the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, as amended.
The online auction is scheduled to take place on December 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2026, through the portal https://ibid.kra.go.ke.
“Pursuant to the provisions of section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 as amended (EACCMA 2004), notice is given that unless the under-mentioned goods are entered and removed from the custody of the customs warehouse keeper, Inland Container Depot Nairobi within thirty (30) days of this notice, they will be treated as abandoned and will be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of EACCMA 2004,” reads the notice.
