The national government has initiated Sh150 million hostel project at Kilungu KMTC in Makueni County to expand student accommodation and increase enrollment.

Aviation and Aerospace Development PS Teresia Mbaika made the revelation Friday during the groundbreaking and hand over ceremony of the site to the contractor to officially commence the works in Kilungu Sub county.

“The hostels will address the existing accommodation gap once completed. The contractor is now on site and the construction work has started in earnest,” said Mbaika while launching the project.

During the event, the PS accused the Kaiti Member of Parliament Joshua Kimilu of  inappropriately  delaying completion of the KMTC project, despite the government having previously pumped Sh65 million that cannot be accounted for.

She noted that the college ought to have admitted its second or third cohort of students by now, if the project had been completed on time, as envisaged by the government.

This project has delayed for seven years. However, God has given us opportunity to be in the current government and we shall help our people, even with electricity connection to homesteads,” said the PS.

Mbaika reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza goverment  would continue reviving other stalled projects in the area,  alongside commissioning of  new development programmes, all  aimed uplifting livelihoods of the people.
