UDA leaders have intensified their campaigns to reclaim lost political seats in the Mt Kenya region, touting ongoing developments in various sectors worth billions of shillings.

This comes after the ruling party lost grip of the voter-rich bloc, with residents blaming the government for the harsh economic hardships despite luring campaign promises.

The leaders have now marked Naivasha, starting to make inroads in the constituency bringing the political fight with the current and third term MP Jayne Kihara who has decamped to Rigathi Gachagua led DCP.

Ndia MP George Kariuki rallied support for UDA to Naivasha residents noting that the constituency had ongoing roads projects worth over 10 billion shillings that would open up the region.

Kariuki, who serves as the chair of the parliamentary committee on roads, said President William Ruto had achieved his development promises to residents across roads, water, land and other sectors.

The MP who has already announced his ambition to deputise Ruto in 2027 elections race said the dualling of the multi-billion shillings Rironi-Mai Summit road is a major achievement that would benefit Naivasha and the region.

He said the current deputy had failed to meet the leadership and political support, especially marshalling support in the Mouth Kenya region which had exposed the president to increasing attacks from opposition leaders.

On his part, youth leader Dennis Muigai, popularly known as ‘Gaucho’ said President Ruto had invested over 10 billion shillings on road projects of more than 130 km that would benefit locals, especially the Naivasha to agriculture-rich Maiella area.

Muigai, who is eyeing the Naivasha MP seat on the UDA ticket, vouched for the reelection of President Ruto owing to ongoing development projects across the country which had also benefited Naivasha.

“The Ruto administration had invested over sh. 10B on ongoing road construction projects in Naivasha that would open up the region, especially the multi-billion shillings Rironi Mai Summit highway,” said Muigai.

He said he had engaged the president to withdraw the criteria on police and army recruitment that had locked many area youths due to their brown teeth as a result of fluoride-rich water.
