The scene where a shallow grave was exhumed/DCI
Detectives in Isinya, Kajiado county, have arrested a man suspected of murdering his wife and concealing her body in a shallow grave at their farm in Entarakuet.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the discovery followed a report by a farmhand who allegedly told investigators that his employer had killed the woman before instructing him to help bury her body.
The farmhand, who was also arrested, is a Burundian national employed at the farm.
Detectives visited the scene following the report and arrested the two men as investigations into the incident began.
The woman’s body was later exhumed in the presence of a pathologist, Ministry of Health officials and police officers to facilitate forensic examination and establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
The remains were transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
The two men remain in custody as detectives investigate the incident and seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
The DCI extended its condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones as investigations continue.
he incident comes amid other cases involving women whose bodies have been discovered buried in shallow graves or abandoned on farms. In September 2026, a 32-year-old man was arrested in Suna East, Migori County, after his wife’s body was found in a shallow grave near their home. The discovery followed concerns over freshly dug soil behind a toilet, with investigators also examining bloodstains reportedly found inside the house.
In October 2025, detectives investigated the killing of a woman whose body, bearing suspected stab wounds, was found in a ditch on a farm in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. Investigators suspected she had been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the scene.
In another case in August 2026, detectives exhumed the body of a missing farm worker from a shallow grave in Itabua, Embu County, and arrested a colleague as investigations continued into the circumstances of the death.
