The accident reportedly occurred at around 7:00 am, with the bus reportedly carrying passengers returning from a burial ceremony when it collided with the lorry.

At least 22 people have been killed and others injured following a head-on collision between a bus and a lorry along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway at Kanga area, past Mtito Andei, on Sunday morning.

Makueni County Commissioner Abdullahi Khalif confirmed that the crash, which involved a tipper truck and a bus carrying 45 passengers, occurred at about 7:45 am in the Kanga area.
