JKUAT First-Year Reporting Date 2026: September 1 Registration and Orientation Details

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has released reporting and registration guidelines for students admitted to the institution for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The university confirms that all first-year students will report on September 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

Students who have received KUCCPS placement notifications have been directed to create accounts through the university admissions portal.

After creating the account, the students will be required to download admission letters and other documents necessary for registration.

The university further urges all first-year students to upload the required registration documents before the reporting week.

“The reporting date for first-years 2026/2027 will be on Tuesday, 1st September 2026. All students are supposed to create a student account on the admission system and upload all relevant documents before the reporting week,” an official notice from the institution reads.

JKUAT Admission Requirements

Government-sponsored students have been advised to apply for support through the Higher Education Funding (HEF) portal to qualify for government scholarships, loans, and bursaries.

The university warns that students who fail to apply for funding will not benefit from subsidized government-supported tuition and may instead be required to pay fees applicable to self-sponsored students.

Students who successfully receive HEF awards are expected to download their HEF letters from the admissions portal.

Self-sponsored students are similarly expected to pay fees in line with the university’s fee payment policy during reporting.

According to JKUAT, registration will be completed only after students meet the required fee obligations and submit all admission requirements.

Student Orientation

The institution will also hold an orientation for new students, during which they are guided on how to transition into university life.

Additionally, students are introduced to academic systems, institutional regulations, campus facilities, and support services.

New students should expect registration and document verification to be major parts of orientation activities.

During the exercise, students will present academic certificates, national identification documents, passport photographs, admission records, and other relevant documents for verification.

Once the verification process is finalized, students proceed with enrollment procedures within their respective schools and colleges.

Students are guided on the use of university email accounts, student portals, online learning platforms, campus Wi-Fi services, and digital examination systems.

In addition, students are introduced to key offices responsible for academic affairs, finance, health services, information technology, accommodation, sports, and student welfare.

According to the institution’s official communication, students also attend school and departmental meetings where they are formally introduced to lecturers, program coordinators, and support staff.

Hostel Booking and Accommodation

Students seeking on-campus accommodation must reserve rooms through the university hostel booking system from August 25.

Hostel allocation for first-year students will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis due to the limited number of rooms available according to the institution.

Students have also been cautioned against paying accommodation fees before successfully securing room allocations through the hostel-booking platform.

“Room booking for the First Year 2026 cohort will be on Tuesday 25th August 2025 at exactly 12.00 P.M. on a First-Come, First-Served basis through the official Hostel portal https://hostel.jkuat.ac.ke/,” JKUAT directs.

Deferment and Inter-University Transfers

Students unable to report for the September 2026 intake have the option of deferring their studies to the next academic year.

The deferment process requires students to write to their respective School Deans, explain their reasons for postponing their studies, and attach copies of their admission letters.

Students must then obtain approval from the Academic Registrar before the September-December semester ends.

Government-sponsored students who defer have also been advised to contact the HEF and HELB offices immediately for guidance on how the deferment may affect their funding arrangements.

Students wishing to transfer to JKUAT can submit applications through the KUCCPS portal and, upon approval, proceed to the admissions portal to download admission documents.
