Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, urged Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant, observe recommended safety precautions, follow official public health guidance and avoid spreading misinformation or unverified reports.

Nigeria’s first confirmed Ebola case is linked to a virus identified in a case in Kenya, according to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, announced the findings on Friday, October 23, 2026, following genomic analysis of the virus detected in the country.

Pate cautioned that the findings did not establish a direct epidemiological link between the two cases, stressing that further investigations were needed to determine how the Nigerian patient contracted the virus.
