Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) nabbed two armed suspects after a high-speed chase involving a black Toyota Prado ended in a crash in Kisumu.

The incident unfolded on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, when the driver allegedly ignored police orders to stop, speeding all the way as the officers chased the vehicle suspected to be involved in a series of robberies in Kisumu.

During the dramatic chase, the officers fired at the tires of the black Prado after the driver failed to stop at the officers' orders to pull over.

The shots punctured the tires near Oile Park, leaving the vehicle unstable as it veered out of control and crashed into an electric pole, according to DCI accounts.

Footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke of the aftermath of the incident showed the Prado completely damaged at the front, halting the escape of the suspected criminals.

The suspects were subsequently arrested while trying to flee from the mangled wreckage as members of the public began surrounding the scene of the incident after being alerted by the commotion. The detectives recovered a black pistol and three mobile phones from the search

Further DCI accounts reveal that the arrest resulted from a tip from a woman who told them she and her friends had lost their phones.

The victims reportedly said the phones were stolen by individuals travelling in a black Toyota Prado, prompting Kisumu Central detectives to pursue leads linking the vehicle to the incident.

Armed with what the DCI described as actionable intelligence, detectives tracked down the vehicle and attempted to intercept it before the driver allegedly fled.

The recovered items were detained as exhibits while a rigorous probe into the robbery network began, reportedly spanning beyond Kisumu County.

The two suspects were detained at Kisumu Central Police Station for processing as detectives prepared to present them in court, according to the DCI.
