At the 24th Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Excellence Awards held on August 27, 2026, Prof. John Oluoch was named the recipient of the 2026 Golden Honors Award. Oluoch is the Director of Placement Coordination and Career Development at the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
In a statement following the award, Prof. John Oluoch said receiving the PRSK Golden Honors Award recognized his past record and achievements.
He noted that awards often reflect what an individual has accomplished over time, adding that he was honored to receive the recognition from the Public Relations Society of Kenya.
“Many times when one wins an award, it is about the records. The past. What one has achieved. Today, I received my Golden Honors Award from the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK),” he shared.
The PRSK Golden Honors Award is the Society’s highest individual and lifetime achievement honor. It recognizes distinguished members for exceptional leadership, enduring service, and sustained contributions to the public relations profession.
According to PRSK, the award recognizes individuals whose careers have made a lasting contribution to the Society and whose influence has helped shape the growth and future of the public relations profession.

Prof. John Oluoch Career Journey
Prof. John Oluoch began his career at Rongo University, formerly Rongo University College under Moi University, where he served as a Lecturer in Communication and Public Relations from 2000 to May 2012. He taught and supervised students in communication and public relations.
From 2012 to 2021, he served as Director of the Privately Sponsored Students Program (PSSP), overseeing privately sponsored students across certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs.
Between 2019 and 2021, John Oluoch was the Dean of the School of Information, Communication and Media Studies at Rongo University, where he headed academic and administrative functions in communication, journalism and media programs.
In March 2021, Prof. John Oluoch became Director of Placement Coordination and Career Development (PCCD) at the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
He leads the national coordination of student placement to universities, TVET institutions, teacher training colleges, and KMTC.
Oluoch also oversees the rollout of career guidance programs for junior and senior school learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
In the role, he represents KUCCPS in engagements with universities and TVET institutions on program capacities, admission requirements, and student placement cycles.
Oluoch’s Educational Background
Prof. John Oluoch began his higher education with a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Moi University.
At Moi University, he later pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations, followed by a Master of Science in Communication Studies.
His academic qualifications also include a PhD in Communication Studies, specializing in Media and Ethnic Conflict, from Rongo University.
At Rongo University, Oluoch further obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic and Human Resource Management.
His management training includes a Senior Management Course in Leadership and Management from the Kenya School of Government.
The Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) awarded him a Postgraduate Certificate in Management of Higher Education Institutes.
Achievements and Awards
Earlier, in 2022, Prof. John Oluoch was recognized among 24 trailblazers who received the PRSK@50 Warrior Award. The recognition marked the Public Relations Society of Kenya’s 50th anniversary and honored key contributors to the growth of the public relations profession.
In 2026, Oluoch received the PRSK Golden Honors Award at the 24th PRSK Excellence Awards held on August 27, 2026.
The Golden Honors Award is PRSK’s highest individual and lifetime achievement honor, recognizing distinguished leadership, enduring service, and sustained contributions to the public relations and communication profession in Kenya.
