During Raila’s illness between 2024 and 2025, Salah accompanied him during medical treatment in Dubai and India and was entrusted with caring for him during his vulnerable moments.
Salah served as a personal aide and provided logistical and security support. His relationship with Raila later extended beyond that of an employee, with Salah regarded as family.
He became involved in funeral planning and was seen alongside Mama Ida Odinga at several events during the mourning period.
His visibility attracted further attention when he arrived by helicopter at the funeral of Raila’s sister in Bondo, an appearance that became a notable moment in his emergence into the public spotlight.
