Scholastica Meeme, popularly known as Scholah Mamii Mboga, has built a name in the Kenyan finance sector, from a small vegetable stall in Kahawa Wendani to a widely recognized brand.
Meeme, a Kenyatta University graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, ventured into grocery vending after graduating and struggling to secure formal employment.
She has since combined the business with content creation, documenting her work and personal journey on TikTok and YouTube.
Family and Educational Background
Meeme was born and raised in Meru, largely by her grandparents.
Her grandmother remained an important figure in her life until she died in 2020, shortly before Meeme joined university.
On her accounts, Scholastica shared publicly that the loss meant she had to take greater responsibility for meeting her own needs.
During her primary education, Meeme scored 409 marks out of 500 in KCPE at Kotolengo Boarding and later attained a B plain in KCSE at St. Angela’s High School in Meru.
Meeme joined Kenyatta University, where she studied for a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Finance and graduated in 2024.
According to Scholastica, she initially wanted to pursue medicine, but her cluster points did not meet the cut-off points.
Working While Studying
To support her University life, Meeme worked as a model, taking part in modeling opportunities while pursuing her education.
She also worked at a cosmetics shop/chemist for one year while looking for ways to support herself.
Her modeling experience later became part of the story behind her decision to start the vegetable business.
During an interview, Scholastica explained she stopped modeling after entering a relationship in which her partner discouraged her from continuing with the career.
After graduating, Meeme expected to pursue a career connected to her Finance qualification. Instead, she struggled to find formal employment or secure an internship opportunity.
After university, Scholastica applied for more than 500 jobs.
“When I graduated, I thought there would be opportunities. I applied, but I was not getting any, so I felt disappointed, but I am still looking for a job that relates to my career,” Scholastica stated.
Starting the Mama Mboga Business
In early 2025, Meeme opened a vegetable and grocery stall in Kahawa Wendani after buying a stock of Ksh 3,000 from Githurai.
On her first day as a mama mboga, she sold only KSh 100; most of the stock went bad, and she did not make a profit in the first month of business.
Since establishing her business, her daily routine has involved traveling to Githurai 45 Market to buy produce for her stall in Kahawa Wendani.
On good days, she sold KSh 2,000 back then, but now she sells up to KSh 10,000 to 15,000.
Her stock includes everyday household items such as tomatoes, onions, vegetables, fruits, and other groceries.
Later, Meeme began documenting her experience on social media, particularly TikTok.
Her videos showed her working at the stall, buying produce, serving customers, and sharing aspects of her everyday life.
In March 2025, Scholastica Meeme made a breakthrough when a video she posted went viral, according to her interview with Oga Obinna.
Following popularity on the social media platforms, she began receiving opportunities from brands seeking to work with her as a content creator and influencer.
Her online identity developed around the name “Gen Z Mama Mboga”, a reference to both her age group and her work selling vegetables.
She subsequently expanded her content to YouTube under the name Scholah Mamii Mboga.
Personal Life
In early 2026, Scholastica Meeme and Dapa Man, a personality on the Obinna Show, publicly presented themselves as a couple.
However, later in August 2026, Meeme described the relationship and collaboration as scripted rather than a genuine romantic relationship.
On September 16, 2026, Scholastica Meeme revealed that she had bought her first car.
Meeme explained she had bought the vehicle earlier but had delayed celebrating the achievement because she was going through a difficult period.
“Some time back, I bought my first car. A dream I prayed for, worked for, and kept believing in finally came true. I did not get to celebrate it then because I was going through a difficult season mentally, but I am finally in a place to celebrate this win with you,” Scholastica Meeme noted.
She shared a video celebrating the acquisition of a grey Mazda Demio, decorated with a red ribbon and learner plates, and a customized plate bearing the words “GENZ MAMA MBOGA”.
