NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 25 — Residents of Dagoretti North have presented their priorities to six parliamentary aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The residents, drawn from Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Kabiro, Gatina and Kawangware wards, raised concerns over security, roads, drainage, street lighting, healthcare, education, environmental protection and youth opportunities.

They also called for greater inclusion of persons with disabilities, public participation and accountability in the use of public resources.

The issues were raised during the inaugural Nairobi Agenda Citizens’ Forum for Dagoretti North, organised by Metro Alliance in Nairobi on Thursday.

The forum gave residents an opportunity to raise their concerns directly with the aspirants, who were asked to respond to the issues and outline how they would address them if elected.

The participating aspirants were Alan Masakhalia, Bright Shitemi, Edwin Mawira, Mirimo Nyongesa, Robert Alai and Vincent Ombaka.

Metro Alliance chairman Ndirangu Maina said the forum was intended to give residents a greater role in engaging candidates seeking elective positions.

“Citizens should not merely listen to candidates making promises; candidates must first listen to the people they seek to represent,” Maina said.

The aspirants also signed a Member of Parliament Accountability Pact, committing, if elected, to consult residents, raise their concerns in Parliament, participate in legislative and budget processes and report back to the constituency.

Metro Alliance said similar forums will be held across Nairobi under the Nairobi Agenda initiative.
