Jackie Matubia is a Kenyan actress, television personality, content creator, and entrepreneur who has built a career across television, acting, and digital media.
She became known for her role as Jolene in the popular Kenyan television drama Tahidi High before later returning to the screen in productions including Zora and Salem.
Jackie Matubia was born Jacqueline Matubia Mwangi on September 16, 1990. She was born in Kenya and spent part of her childhood in London with her father before returning to Kenya, where she lived with her mother in Kawangware.
In an account of her childhood shared in 2024, Matubia described moving between her parents and adjusting to different environments as she grew up.
“I went to London to stay with my dad. Then I came back and stayed with my mum, who was already married to someone else by then. We lived in Kawangware. I was a very quiet child because of the change. Growing up, being moved from one place to the other can affect your interaction with people. I used to block people. I wanted them to actually hate me and stay away from me,”said Matubia.

Jackie Matubia attended Lavington Academy for her primary education before joining Gathirimu High School.
She developed an interest in acting in high school and joined the school’s drama club. Matubia said she joined the drama club in Form One and continued participating through her secondary education.
How Jackie Matubia Joined Tahidi High
Matubia’s breakthrough came through Tahidi High, the Kenyan high school drama that was one of the country’s popular television productions.
She played Jolene, a character that was among the performances that brought her recognition in the Kenyan entertainment industry.
Jackie Matubia has previously explained that a connection made through drama led to an opportunity related to Tahidi High.
After her early success on Tahidi High, Matubia took a break from acting before returning to television in a major role.
In 2021, she joined Citizen TV’s telenovela Zora, where she played Nana, and the show ran for about a year and featured Sarah Hassan in the lead role.
Award-Winning Acting Career
Matubia’s performance in Zora earned her the Best Actress in TV Drama award at the Women in Film Awards in March 2022.
The awards recognized women in Kenya’s film industry, and Matubia received the award for her performance in Zora.
She later received another major recognition when she won Best Actress at the inaugural TUKO Entertainment Awards in January 2024.
Matubia later joined the cast of Salem, a Maisha Magic Plus drama series, where she played Zahra Mufasa.
Television Presenting and Digital Content
Jackie Matubia has also worked as a television presenter, including hosting roles at Switch TV and Rembo TV.
She has built a presence as a digital content creator, using social media and online platforms to share aspects of her work and personal life.
In 2025, she joined The Mommy Club NBO, a Kenyan reality television production featuring five mothers balancing family, careers and public life.
Jackie Matubia’s Children
Jackie Matubia has two daughters.
Her first daughter, Zari, was born in 2015. Matubia later had a second daughter, Zendaya, with actor Blessing Lung’aho, whom she met while working on Zora. The couple welcomed their daughter in 2022.
Motherhood has also become part of Matubia’s public identity, and on The Mommy Club NBO, she discussed the challenges of balancing parenting with her career and public life.
In July 2026, Matubia publicly celebrated her daughter Zari as she prepared for a summer holiday in Europe, describing her daughter’s achievements as a source of pride.
