Tickets for the historic match between German giants FC Bayern Munich and Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam to inaugurate the Raila Odinga International Stadium in Nairobi will go on sale on November 5.

FC Bayern confirmed that tickets for the January 5, 2027 fixture will be available through the official Talanta Sports City website, talantasportscity.com .

In a statement, Bayern described the fixture as a special match to kick off the new year, with the club travelling to Nairobi to face Dutch record champions Ajax.

The German club said the event would be an international football festival celebrating the passion for the game across Africa while building anticipation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Kenya will co-host the continental tournament with Uganda and Tanzania in the summer of 2027, marking the first time the competition will be staged across three countries.

The tournament will also return to East Africa for the first time in more than 50 years.

FC Bayern board member for marketing and sales Rouven Kasper said the Nairobi fixture would strengthen the club's relationship with its African supporters and expand its international reach.

“FC Bayern has millions of fantastic fans in Africa with whom we feel a close connection – it's a continent with a huge passion for football,” Kasper said.

He noted that the club had maintained a consistent presence in America and Asia through its Audi Summer Tour and viewed the Nairobi match as an opportunity to deepen its engagement with fans in Africa.

“Now we have a new opportunity to further strengthen our connection with our fans in Africa too, to allow people to experience FC Bayern first-hand and to underline our club's international appeal,” he said.

Kasper added that the event would also help raise the profile of the German Bundesliga.

“We will be making a further contribution to raising the profile of the Bundesliga and are very much looking forward to this special event,” he said.

The match will feature former Bundesliga players Marc-André ter Stegen, Thilo Kehrer and Julian Brandt, according to Bayern.

It will be broadcast live on German television channel ProSieben and simultaneously on FC Bayern TV PLUS, the club's pay-per-view streaming service.

The fixture is expected to provide an early international test of Kenya's preparations to host major football events ahead of AFCON 2027, as the country seeks to attract global attention to its sporting infrastructure and growing football ambitions.
