Airtel Kenya has quietly upgraded its 5G Smart Connect home internet plans. These 5G unlimited speeds can be accessed through the Airtel 5G router. The move comes as the demand for reliable and affordable home internet continues to grow across Kenya.

Previously, Airtel customers could access:

  • 10 Mbps for Ksh 3,500
  • 20 Mbps for Ksh 5,000
  • 30 Mbps for Ksh 6,500

With the new upgrade, Airtel has changed its packages to offer:

  • Up to 15 Mbps for Ksh 2,999 (30 days)
  • Up to 40 Mbps for Ksh 4,999 (30 days)

This represents a 50% increase in speed and a slight drop in pricing. This is particularly so for users who were previously paying Ksh 3,500 for just 10 Mbps. Even the most expensive plan now delivers faster speeds at a significantly lower cost.

A one-time connection fee of Ksh 2,000 applies for new installations. This was previously not that obvious and means that for the cheapest package, you need Ksh 5,000 to get started.

Airtel’s 5G Smart Connect was already attracting interest from users in areas where fibre internet isn’t available. With these new speeds and pricing, Airtel is aiming to expand its footprint and appeal to households looking for a solid fixed wireless alternative.

By offering up to 40 Mbps for Ksh 4,999, Airtel has undercut many fibre-based ISPs, while still delivering speeds that are more than adequate for multiple users, streaming, online meetings and online gaming.
