Ghana steps up Ebola surveillance after cases are reported in Kenya, DRC and Nigeria
Travellers arriving from affected areas are to be monitored for 21 days, while public education and risk communication activities at the airport are being intensified to provide travellers with information on prevention and the appropriate steps to take if symptoms develop.
Ghana has intensified Ebola surveillance at its entry points, particularly the Accra International Airport, to prevent the importation of the virus following reports of cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya and Nigeria.
In a press release, the Ministry of Health said it was strengthening national preparedness to ensure early detection, prompt isolation and effective management of any suspected case.
