Opposition leaders renew calls for unity ahead of 2027 elections
Description (show more)
A section of opposition leaders has renewed calls for unity, urging like-minded political formations to rally behind a common agenda aimed at unseating President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration in the 2027 General Election. Led by PLP party leader Martha Karua, who pitched camp in Kisii and Migori counties, PPK's Ndindi Nyoro, who was in Nairobi, and People Renaissance Movement party leader Caleb Amisi, who was in Trans Nzoia, the leaders called for concerted efforts to establish a formidable united opposition capable of unseating President Ruto in 2027. PPK leader Ndindi Nyoro used his meeting in Nairobi to criticise a section of DCP leaders, whom he accused of engaging in political mudslinging against him. Nyoro challenged DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua to rein in his allies and redirect their energies towards the broader opposition agenda of sending the current administration home.
