ODM leaders push for Ruto’s 2027 running mate

Description (show more)

The Orange Democratic Movement has continued its demand for the deputy President’s seat in next year’s General election. Speaking during a meeting attended by UDA and ODM legislators in Sirisia, Bungoma County, ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo, said the party will continue to push for one of its leaders to become President William Ruto’s deputy. Omanyo dismissed claims that she’s being driven by tribal interests for supporting Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya’s bid for the position. Oparanya, meanwhile, criticised the opposition for lacking a clear agenda and urged it to respect the independence of the electoral body, the IEBC.
