The government is calling for stronger collaboration between national and county governments, the health sector, academia and development partners to strengthen social protection for Kenya’s growing population of older persons. During the conclusion of the national conference on ageing and social protection in Nairobi, State Department for Social Protection Principal Secretary Joseph Motari said addressing the needs of senior citizens requires coordinated action across different sectors. Motari also read the riot act to security agencies amid cases of violence against older persons in parts of the country.
