Sakaja joins ODM, sets sights on 2027 re-election bid
Description (show more)
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has ditched the ruling UDA party for ODM, setting his sights on defending his seat on the party’s ticket in next year’s gubernatorial election. Sakaja says his decision to join ODM was largely inspired by the late party leader and founder, Raila Odinga, as well as his leadership philosophy. His move sets the stage for an early contest within ODM as aspirants begin positioning themselves for the party’s ticket ahead of next year’s election. Ben Kirui has more.
