Description (show more)
The death toll from last night’s oil tanker explosion near Paul Boit High School in Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, along the Eldoret–Webuye Highway, has risen to three. The third casualty succumbed to severe burn injuries while receiving treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret. Dr Andrew Wandera, the hospital’s Senior Director of Clinical Services, says 22 survivors are currently receiving treatment, up from 14. Eleven patients are in critical condition and remain in the ICU, while the others continue to recuperate in the wards. The latest death has deepened the grief among families affected by the explosion. The public has also been urged to exercise caution and avoid rushing to accident scenes, with authorities warning that large crowds can hamper rescue efforts and put more lives at risk.
