High Court strikes down restrictions on retired presidents’ political activity

It is a win for retired President Uhuru Kenyatta after the High Court declared unconstitutional, null and void, sections of the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act that bar retired presidents from engaging in active politics. Justice Bahati Mwamuye also ruled that the Act cannot be used to withdraw, reduce, withhold or disadvantageously vary retirement benefits due to a former president.
