Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Friday, October 30, 2026, unveiled a proposed leadership structure for the newly formed Linda Mwananchi Party ahead of National Delegates Convention scheduled for November 13.

The lineup features prominent opposition top eggs including Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi as Chairperson and former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza as Deputy Party Leader.

The proposed “dream team” structure introduces an expansive leadership team that will be formally ratified during the party’s National Delegates Convention scheduled for November 13.

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, and former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo have all been tapped to serve as Deputy Party Leaders, with a highly placed source at the party saying fourth deputy slot is reserved for a Coast region representative.

Other key leaders in the lineup include national Chairperson Godfrey Osotsi, Deputy National Chairperson Reuben Ndolo, Secretary-General Caroli Omondi, Deputy Secretary-General Pauline Njoroge, and National Treasurer Richard Onyonka.

Senator Sifuna’s 2027 presidential bid has picked up pace after the official rebranding of The Equitable Party (TEP) into the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) on Friday, October 30, 2026. He expressly vowed to meet President William Ruto on the ballot when he exited his role as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Sifuna has explicitly stated he will be on the ballot to challenge President William Ruto.

The upcoming delegates convention will focus on the formal transition of the political movement into a fully registered party, the approval of its new constitution, and the adoption of this leadership structure.

“I don’t know if those who are categorical that there can be no miracles in elections are following the happenings in Serbia and Brazil. I’m super encouraged for 2027 because we in Kenya pray to the same God. Inshallah we get ours too,” Sifuna says.

Even as Kenyan opposition leaders agree to work collaboratively, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka now being courted by various political factions continues to raise the stakes. He has declared he has what it takes to defeat the incumbent President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.

Defying pressure to align with either the Linda Mwananchi movement or the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition, Musyoka, a seasoned lawyer, insists his time is now.

Directly addressing skeptics, Musyoka says: “I want to assure you that the time is now. I feel it in my heart… I want to address doubting Thomases that the time is now. I have what it takes to defeat Ruto.”

A couple of days ago, a crowd supporting Sifuna heckled and booed Kalonzo calling him to abandon his presidential vision. Sifuna stepped in to calm the crowd and urged them to respect Kalonzo and let him finish his speech.

This even as the Linda Mwananchi initiative continues to draw sharp criticism from government-allied politicians, with leaders like internal Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen arguing that the opposition lacks a proper long-term plan, which he claims is a clear sign that Musyoka needs to “read the signs.”

“Please read the signs,” Murkomen was quoted as saying at an event in Narock County, warning Kalonzo that he is being politically misled by certain opposition figures.

While some top egg in the political space suggest the opposition is stretched thin, the new movement is already beginning to attract powerful figures.

Prominent city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi argues that the chaotic blend of ideological diversity and strategic friction is Kenya’s political culture, one that could benefit the country’s democracy by driving a fiercely competitive 2027 election.

“I don’t get at all the hullabaloo about the heckling of Kalonzo Musyoka by young boys and girls during the launch of Linda Mwanachi last Friday. Heckling and booing is part of our political culture. The attempt to paint Musyoka as having a political glass jaw is totally uncalled for and unfair. Musyoka is a tough cookie,” Abdullahi says.
