Absa Bank Kenya has unveiled its inaugural Eldoret “Absa City Run” to celebrate 100 years of partnership with customers and communities in the region.

As the Home of Champions, Eldoret was a natural choice to launch the City Run series, according to the lender.

“Launch of the Absa Eldoret City Run reflects our commitment to creating experiences that bring communities together, promote wellness, and encourage people to be active while celebrating the unique spirit of Eldoret,” Timothy Kosgey, Absa Bank Kenya’s Eldoret Regional Manager, said.

Mr. Kosgey noted that the event celebrates a “shared journey” while looking ahead to the future.

The Absa Eldoret City Run is scheduled for this weekend on November 1, 2026, and is designed as an inclusive community event expected to bring together families, fitness enthusiasts, running clubs, and residents of all ages to walk, jog, or run at their own pace.

Eldoret edition will feature 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM categories and is free and open to the public. The event will also welcome elite athletes in the 10KM category, whose participation serves to celebrate Eldoret’s global reputation as the home of champions and inspire the next generation of runners. The broader goal is to create an inclusive event that encourages community participation and active living.

“We invite every resident of Eldoret to be part of this historic event. Whether you are joining the 3KM Fun Run with your family, taking on the 5KM challenge, or participating in the 10KM route, this event is about coming together as a community, embracing healthy lifestyles, and creating memorable experiences. We look forward to seeing thousands of residents turn out and make the inaugural Absa Eldoret City Run a true celebration of community spirit,” Kosgey explains.

The lender said the event complements its long-standing support for athletics in Kenya. Through flagship events such as the Absa Sirikwa Classic and the Absa Kip Keino Classic, the Bank has supported elite competition and talent development. The Absa City Run series extends this commitment by creating opportunities for everyday Kenyans to participate in recreational running and wellness-focused community events, a growing movement across the country.

In 2026, Absa has invested Ksh60 million into Kenya’s athletics calendar, including Ksh35 million towards Athletics Kenya competitions and events. The bank’s athletics portfolio also includes its partnership with marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, reflecting its commitment to supporting sport from grassroots participation to world-class excellence.

The centenary celebrations will also include customer appreciation visits, community engagements, and the Absa @100 Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 31, before culminating in the inaugural Absa Eldoret City Run on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
